So good ! We love it here. Best fried green tomato's ever always sweet! Best French toast ever. Challah is unmatched. My mother loved her shrimp and grits. Thank you Tanasia ! Great meal and better service

We were visiting Annapolis and needed some home cooking for a good base to start our day when we stumbled across Miss Shirley's Cafe. I ordered the Gravy Train Southern Skillet. Fried chicken, cheese biscuit, grits, greens and gravy. Overall, the breakfast wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. The chicken was good, but a bit big - two 1/2 breasts. I didn't find a lot of sausage or ham, but the grits were tasty and the biscuit was delicious. I ordered a caramel apple cider mimosa, which was very tasty and different from anything I've had before (Order This). We just waited 5 to 10 minutes for a table, which was less than we expected. Our server took our order quickly however when it came time to pay, we sat around for a bit. Just the opposite of what I'm used to. It's a cool little restaurant and if you're in Annapolis, looking for some home cooking, I would stop by.

Miss Shirley you beautiful woman you. Your regular pancakes were so fluffy and loaded either toppings, your fried chicken omelette wss fried to perfection, biscuits and gravy were delicious, skillet packed with flavor, waffles so fluffy. The food was out of this world Inside is cute and plenty of seating but you will def wait if you're not there early. The gluten free pancakes weren't anything to write home about but if you rarely get gluten free pancakes then you'll love these guaranteed

Service was wonderful, we didn't know they close at 3. It was our first time there. Dirma was very gracious and made us feel very comfortable and at home. She's wonderful. Make you ask for her, best service. Thank you for the great food.

I had a breakfast for work at Miss Shirley's Cafe in Annapolis and left impressed. I live in Baltimore City not far from the Cold Spring location of Miss Shirley's but hardly ever go. So I wasn't expecting much from my breakfast at this Annapolis location. But I forgot just how all-encompassing their menu is. Vegans in your party? People who eat gluten free in your party? People who just refuse to eat anything that isn't healthy? This menu has something for them all while still having some very fun (and not healthy at all) treats for those who like to calorie splurge at brunch! Our work party shared their Funky Monkey Bread, which is apparently one of their classics. It's a little on the sweet side for me, but I can see why they sell a lot of it - delicious and easy to share with a larger group! I wasn't in the mood for something too heavy (had a work lunch not too many hours away), so I went with their Bmore Breakfast Bowl (scrambled egg topped with parmesan, roasted sweet potato, sauteed spinach, roasted corn, roasted cherry tomatoes and onion with lemon and dill, pickled jalapenos, and sliced avocado. It was healthy while still being very tasty and exactly what I wanted that morning. The decor at the locations I've been to always feel like dated, like they're a corporate chain restaurant, and not a Baltimore institution. But if their decor doesn't impress, wow does their service. Our group was large (maybe 20 people?), and the servers who helped us throughout our meal were so friendly, professional, and helpful. They were pros but just so lovely, too. Overall, not a bad place for a breakfast or brunch if you're in Annapolis. Especially if you value a place that still really focuses on the human connections of good service. Because Miss Shirley's does that better than a million other places.

The food has been superb since the day they have opened. The service is always great and everyone is usually very nice. The pancakes are soooo good , we got plain, Oreo , and the special with bacon inside r the pancakes so good. Shrimp and grits are soooo delicious , chicken and waffles are the perfect size and again always soo good

The food was so good here that we wanted to see and meet Ms. Shirley herself! We had a bit of a long wait, as we didn't have a reservation, but it was worth every penny. The fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs were amazing and those grits were like no others I've had just pure deliciousness. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken, French toast and eggs and the beverage tasted good as well. I've visited both the Baltimore and Annapolis locations and rave about both because the food is great! I don't recall music but it's not needed with great company. I'd definitely recommend this place to others.

What went well? Everything! A friend and I went at 8 am for breakfast. They were ready to go as soon as we stepped inside. Our host sat us promptly and our server was welcoming and very warm with a great smile. She was so well verdsd with the menu and offered not just the daily specials but even small adjustments that she suggested were great to try as well. We wanted to know if there was any variation of Irish coffee served and she asked the bartender to come and explain a past season drink to us that we agreed to an ordered. It was a great mix of chocolate, coffee liquor, bourbon, and other ingredients that boosted the flavor and then warmed to perfection. We also ordered a regular cup of coffee to go along with our food. For a shared plate we ordered the Cocunut Cream Stuffed French Toast (Challa bread). It had diced strawberry's and sliced and brûléed bananas. Bomb in all aspects: explosion of flavors, huge portion size, and a little messy but not unwelcomed. I ordered the Southern Slammer sandwich and subbed out the pumpernickel for sourdough. one side had avocado spread and maybe garlic (good choice if so) and the other had the friend green tomato with the cheddar cheese, bacon, and over easy egg. I also ordered a side of hash browns. It really all was a wonderful combination for a breakfast sandwich, although a bit large to eat as a sandwich so I ate it in pieces. My friend ordered the Crab Hash & Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict. Colorful dish and very harty dish although the ingredients may lead one to think it's light. Very comfortable atmosphere with the booths having large backs. Loved how they are not only full service, but they have a walk up order station. Pretty cool and less disturbances for the customers waiting to come in or pay. All in all great brunch or breakfast place!

My husband and I went here for breakfast this morning. We were able to park in the neighborhood and parking garage and it was a very quick walk to the restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly. However, it was a bit of a wait before a waitress came to our table. She apologized and explained that we had been seated in a section where the waitress had not even arrived for work yet. Our coffee and waters were brought quickly. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. He is a bit of a connoisseur for chicken and waffles, but prefers bone in chicken. He knew ahead of time that the chicken for this meal is a chicken breast. I ordered the banana bread French toast. As far as banana bread goes, it was fine. However, I was not convinced it had been battered and fried like typical French toast. Instead, it just tasted like an elevated banana bread with bananas and chocolate chips on top. It was good, but just not what I was expecting. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, and was not very crowded when we were there. However, I imagine as it gets later. It probably fills up quite a bit. If you're looking to try someplace new and are open to some unique menu items, you might get this restaurant a try. It's a little pricier than most breakfast spots, but it's nice for the occasional treat. If we go back, I will just know what to expect and will likely stick to pancakes.

You can't go wrong with Miss Shirley's. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for brunch and although no reservations are allowed, we were seated immediately. This restaurant specializes in adding Maryland twists to southern staples, so think shrimp and grits, baked salmon, greens, shrimp dishes, fried chicken, brunch dishes such as toast, eggs, etc. The entire menu is awesome. We opted for the fried chicken deviled eggs which was amazing, and also got the gravy train southern skillet as well as a half order of toast--so so delicious. Also tried the shrimp and grits which was really tasty. The portions are also quite generous so you feel like you're getting your moneys worth. Definitely stop by if you'd like to be treated to sweet and savory goodness.
